Comet Lulin in Leo

6" Newtonian, Canon 350D, 94*30seconds

Clouds during February prevented Lulin from being seen at its best. There is now not much of a tail visible.

This is a stack of all 94 images. A short tail can be seen trailing to the left.

The comet was moving at high speed across the background stars. This image is stacked on the stars and shows the path of the comet (left to right) over a period of 3 hours. (Gaps are due to battery changeovers and other technical problems).

A small animation showing 20 minutes
of the comet's motion

Leo Triplet - M65, M66 and NGC 3628

6" Newtonian, Canon 350D, 84*30seconds. Difficult to image. Converted to greyscale because red channel was very noisy.

M51 Whirlpool Galaxy in Canes Venatici
6" Newtonian, Canon 350D, 34*30seconds Poor polar alignment, hence trailed stars. See April 2009 for a much improved version.
